MINERAL EXPLORATION MUSINGS By Michael THOMSEN

Artificial Intelligence in Exploration? Effective or not? Useful or not? Successful or not?

Artificial Intelligence in Exploration? Effective or not? Useful or not? Successful or not?

AI in the Exploration Sector is in the headlines. With multiple new AI companies hitting the market.  Lots of questions …Can anyone give an example of a bona fide mineral discovery made using AI?  (Not just anomalies at geological mapping. Any fool can create anomalies).

Is ‘AI in Exploration’ the answer to rapidly declining discovery rates?  What do YOU think of ‘AI in Exploration’?

One of LinkedIn’s most useful aspects is feedback and sharing of ideas.  Comments on an idea like ‘AI in Exploration’ can be useful to all.

With over 20,000 views of Michael THOMSEN weekly MUSINGS posts, your comments will be seen and considered by thousands, several of them “movers and shakers”.  So, give him some feedback.

Some of him thoughts are:

AI might be useful in areas holding significant historic / recent exploration data sets, but where might it be most effective?  Mine-scale?  District-scale?  Regional-scale?

Where algorithms written for those massive data sets just might uncover new targets?

What about grassroots areas with very little data?

The jury is out.  Waiting for your comments while joining a white mocha latte: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6521007085109473280
